LATONIA PAYNE

BEYOND THE CHAIR THERAPEUTIC COLLECTIVE

LATONIA PAYNE, CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER ASSOCIATE

I’m a clinical social worker associate and formerly a full time hairstylist who understands how powerful it is to feel truly seen, heard, and cared for. Before becoming a therapist, I spent years behind the chair—holding space for people’s stories, witnessing their transformations, and building trust in a way that felt natural and affirming. That same warmth and attentiveness is what I bring into my therapy practice today.

My approach is collaborative, down-to-earth, and rooted in evidence-based practices. I integrate several modalities like interpersonal therapy. Narrative therapy Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand and shift unhelpful thought patterns, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) interventions for emotional regulation and coping skills, and solution-focused therapy to help you move toward the life you want—step by step. I also incorporate culturally affirming somatic practices, helping you reconnect with your body, release stress, and feel more grounded in yourself.

In our sessions, you won’t just talk—you’ll build tools you can actually use. Whether it’s learning how to manage anxiety in the moment, set boundaries, process past experiences, or reconnect with your sense of self, my goal is for you to leave each session feeling supported, clearer, and more empowered.

If you’re looking for a therapist who will meet you with warmth, honesty, and real conversation—while also helping you grow in practical, meaningful ways—I’d be honored to support you.
